Iran’s short film grabs award in US film festival

Iranian short ‘A Pair of Horns on a Female Homo Sapiens’ grabs award at the 2018 Red Rock Film Festival in the US.

Iranian short film ‘A Pair of Horns on a Female Homo Sapiens’ has grabbed an award at the 2018 edition of the Red Rock Film Festival in the US.

Directed by Saleh Kashefi, the film took part at the Young Filmmaker Short Competition and brought Mahsa Akbarabadi the Best Actress award.

“People sometimes subconsciously associate their perception of disagreeable physical attributes with dislikable personality traits,” a synopsis for the film reads.

The short film has so far attended more than 40 international festivals and managed to win several awards.

The Red Rock Film Festival “offers a serene environment for incredible film,” according to the event’s website.

It aims to “encourage the production of media in both the independent and professional market that portray the human race in a positive light, and to applaud original works that redefine media through innovation, creativity and sensitivity that both enlightens and educates audiences from around the world.”

The latest edition of the festival took place in Southern Utah in November 2018, but the winners were announced recently.
